Social Media is the cause of much that is good in our world.
Social Media gets a bad rap these days.
It’s trendy to say that it’s vacuous, or a waste of time, or that it’s dumbing us down, or getting in the way of people having real relationships in the real world.
And you know what? Some of that may be true.
But it’s also the most amazing tool in the world for keeping us in contact with the majority of our friends and family. We still feel connected and up to date with what’s going on in their lives and it makes a huge difference in helping us feel that we have not left our community behind completely.
And interestingly, it’s the very ubiquity and banality of much of the content on social media that makes us feel that way. Before Facebook, and Instagram etc, we could still have phoned home. But it would have been expensive, sporadic, and reserved for updates of the most important kind.
But now we get a daily dose of what everyone has been up to, in all its variety, and quite frankly, it’s amazing.
You’re amazing.
So keep on posting what show you went to last night. Or pictures of cats that made you laugh. Tell us what’s making you sad, or angry, or excited. We want to see photos of your latest holiday, and your kid’s first day at school.
Hell, I even want to see photos of your dinner. But only if it’s as funny as this.
